I have always wanted to go to South Africa to tour the diamond mines. Doesn't that sound like a lot of fun? In my opinion, South Africa is the jewel of Africa, and the jewel of Africa is diamonds.

Tour of Diamond Mine where the largest diamond ever found was unearthed at the Premier Mine near Pretoria. Drive through the Administrative Capital of South Africa to the Union Buildings, Paul Kruger Museum and the Voortrekker Monument.

You must depart from Naries at 07h00, with your own vehicle, [sedan car is ok] on a partly dirt/ partly tarred road to Kleinzee (70 km) where you will be met by a guide. The tour starts 08:00 sharp from Kleinzee Info center (Tourism office - Please ask security for directions). The mine tour will expose you to the fascinating high security world of diamond mining. Climb aboard the massive dragline (dependant on production schedules), which moves up to 70 tons of gravel in a single scoop. Visit actual digging sights within the restricted area as well as a site visit to a huge seal colony of more than 350 000 Cape fur seals. De Beers Namakwaland Tours need to issue a special permit for you to enter the Kleinzee Diamond Area. We therefore need a photo-copy of your ID document or Passport at least 5 days prior to your visit to Kleinzee. (The security at Kleinzee is extremely strict).

Diamonds are a girl’s best friend? Sure, but also a man’s if you consider the long term benefits such a small and precious stone can bring. Visit the operational Cullinan Diamond mine and fully appreciate all the blood, sweat and tears it takes to produce the little (or big) gems we hold so dear. Maybe you could even “frost” your lady companion at one of their stores.
