If you're like me, a cheap vacation/ holiday sounds really good. Lord knows that I like to
travel a lot, but I also like to save a few bucks when I can. There are a million ways to lower your vacation budget, but let's talk about just a few ways that you can have a cheap vacation.
1- Shop around! Do you realize that only fools pay the full price for things like
airfare, hotels,
rental cars, and many excursions? I save a good 50% on all of these big ticket
travel items every time we go on vacation. How? It's easy! You just have to be willing to wheel and deal online. Instead of just booking a room directly with the hotel, compare prices and get a million quotes online. Instead of just making an airline reservation with Delta, head to priceline and try to get a steal. You can shop around for huge bargains on these
travel expenses, and saving 50% or more is easy if you just try!
2- Don't eat out every meal. Sure, eating out can be fun. It can be a lot of fun to whine and dine at fancy restaurants. If you're looking to have a cheap vacation though, forget about those fancy places to eat! You can head to the closest grocery store near your hotel or resort and load up on supplies such as sandwiches, fruits, vegetables, and drinks. Throwing money away on restaurants is nice, but we're going for cheap here. You can easily save $40 per person, per day, by just not eating out for two meals a day during your vacation. That adds up!
3- Stay closer to home. Yes, a far away vacation to Paris is great, but if you want a cheap holiday you may want to pick something closer to home. I will bet that there is a great spot to
travel within a few hours where you live. By picking a local spot to relax you will save on
airfare,
rental cars, and you can even bring your own groceries. It's cheap, but that's what we're after.
My point is that you don't have to spend a small fortune to have a good time. A cheap vacation can be just as fun as one that puts you into debt!
