Here We Go...Parasailing Question? Hello All! We're about to embark on our first DCL cruise (or cruise of any type for that matter) and am going to have questions (our departure date is 11/29/08, category 6 stateroom, 7-day Western) . I've got my PassPorter (actually, two), so that basics will be covered, but I'm a detail hound, especially when I'm not familiar with something. I know WDW well, but DCL -- another animal! So, here's my first, of what will be many questions for all of you. I will appreciate your understanding while I get details that make aren't clear to me. We booked through Mouse Fan Travel, and have a wonderful agent, but I can't ask her every question. We'd need a dedicated network line! Anyways, here's my first question(s)...about the Parasailing shore excursion on Castaway Cay. I usually bold-face the actual questions, so if you need to find them quickly, you can. About myself, I have had three spine surgeries to repair degeneration (and the problems it has caused). In technical terms, I've had spinal fusion, decompression, and instrumentation from C2 through T3. Back to reality, I walk (typically with a cane, just for a little support, especially in unfamiliar terrain). Other than that, I do have some limited motion in my neck, but I've adjusted pretty well. I drive and do almost all activities, but in limited quatities at a time, but you'll never find me running. Sorry about the details, but it goes to the questions. I want to know if this is suicidal for my spine, so to speak.* *Can someone please tell me what physical requirements are there for someone who would like to parasail, other than weight limitations and those items listed in the PassPorter guide?** *Would you consider this for me (or do you need more information about me to be able to answer correctly)?** *What types of physical strains are put on the body of the person parasailing?** *And, in a related question for my wife with no limitations, how scary is it? If you're afraid of heights, is it a bad idea?** *Finally, if you are parasailing, will they allow an additional passenger on board to take pictures, or is only the person who paid for the parasailing permitted on the boat?*I think you have the general idea of what I'm trying to find out. My wife and I will not be able to go together at one time as we would exceed the weight limitation for tandem Parasailing. *Does it make sense for me and would it be safe? And for my wife, who has no physical limitations, will her fear of heights kill the fun for her?* I appreciate your patience in letting me explain this. Issues related to this may need to be asked again, and if any has suggestions on how to explain the situation I am in, please share it with me. I want to be as concise as possible, so people read less and still can adequately answer my questions. I look forward to your help from all of you. Thanks!Jim |
