How do I book JFK-SIN flight for award?

I called United asked for an award JFK to DPS return from Kota Kinabalu (BKI) to JFK. They came up with JFS)N direct flight. Return is Asana via Seoul. I was happy with those flights and started planning around them. Now I go to ticket them and they say that SQ won't ticket it. They say its considered atlantic routing and SQ won't confirm it. However if I cam back over atlantic and paid 70K miles then I could have it. Sounds like BS though. What does SQ care how many miles are charged. Sounds to me like UA reserved the flight and now refuse to ticket it.

If they had said this in the first place I would have not cared. But now to plan around it and have them pull it away is infuriating. Anyway to get them to ticket thsi JFK-SIN direct with a transpacific return.
