Disney Stock Question

Hi! I had no idea where to post this, so forgive me if this isn't the right place.:o We gave our DD one share of Disney stock for her birthday one year and I am the custodian for it. We just received a letter from BNY Mellon Shareowner Services that apparently a box of data back-up tapes has gone missing and they have determined that our personal information was one of many on those tapes. Now, they are offering free credit monitoring for 1 year, but we have to sign up for it , using an activation code listed in the letter. Has anyone else received such a letter who owns shares of Disney Stock? Anyone hear about this breach of protecting personal information? And any ideas about how to make sure this is legitimate?? Thanks in advance for any help with this!!
