Combining two itineraries - what to expect

I have an award itinerary (business) that returns on July 19/20 from GIG (Rio de Janeiro) to BFL (Bakersfield).I then have a V bucket flight that I have bought that leaves from BFL on the same plane that I fly in on to PDX.I have no status.Questions:I should be able to have the two itineraries combined in some way, right? Bags should be able to be checked all the way through? Lounge access continues?Any chance I could convince someone along the way to upgrade my flight from LAX to PDX out of lowly coach?Who, where, and when would be the optimal time to tackle this?
