#30, GRU-EWR, almost 14 hrs late?

I will be on this flight next week and just was casually looking at its on time performance. I see where yesterday's flight (6/28) scheduled to depart GRU at 9:10 pm did not leave until 10:57 am this morning. Scheduled arrival was to be 6:00 am today, and is now scheduled for 7:51 pm today. What happened?

If it was mechanical, curious about how the pax were cared for/compensated. Were they given a hotel room, meals? Also, the late arrival would mean most would not be able to make connecting flights until the next day! That would mean two nights in a hotel? I will be in BF. Does that make a difference?

This must be very costly for CO or any airline.
