Pixies for FDH please FDH has had some serious tonsil problems for 9 months now. He went to an ENT in his town (a small coastal town) and after 4 visits over the course of one month, she told him that she would not remove his tonsils because he was overweight and too much of a risk. He finally listened to my advice and came to an ENT here in Victoria. The WONDERFUL doc he came to see here took one look in his throat and within 10 minutes had him set up with the surgeon to get the tonsils out. Last Tuesday he had his day surgery and got the tonsils out. His doc said that his tonsils were the largest ones he has ever seen in his 30 years of doing surgery. WOW!! His throat has been hurting a whole lot ever since then. He hasn't been able to eat anything and even drinking anything more than water was painful for him. He even had a hard time brushing his teeth. Well last night FDH and I are chatting on yahoo and he tells me that his throat hurts a whole bunch more and he is getting a fever. A few minutes later he tells me that he is coughing up blood. So his mom takes him to the ER in their town and the ER doc there says "why did you bring him here?" WHAT???? Uh DUH THIS IS AN ER!!!! So they get the ER doc there to call his surgeon and that wonderful doc tells FDH's mom to bring him to the ER here. He met FDH at the ER here and within an hour had a blood clot in FDH's throat cleared and cleaned and his throat numbed. Sent FDH home with a prescription for pain killers. Because he was coughing and puking up so much blood, FDH (and his mom and I) were really scared about what was going on. But according to his doc this is something that happens to about 1 in 50 people. As of this morning his throat isn't hurting nearly as much and he was able to actually eat something today. Please send pixies that he continues to feel better. His birthday is wednesday and it would really suck if he isn't able to enjoy the lasagna and cake that I am making for his birthday dinner. |
